Tucked inside Liberty Square on the border it shares with Fantasyland, Columbia Harbour House sits, waiting to welcome you with its array of fried foods and other tasty morsels. Like all counter service locations, however, it can seem like a madhouse once you get inside. You make your way to the registers, order your food, and then try not to jostle anyone or drop your tray as you make your way toward a table to start your meal. Sometimes, this seems more like work than a nice, relaxing meal.
Wait, though! Don’t be in a hurry. Take a look around the area to the left and right of the registers and you will find two staircases. These, unlike many other staircases in WDW, are not just there to lend more realism to your surroundings. They lead to a large upstairs eating area with plenty of tables and several of the best views for people watching in the entire Magic Kingdom.
Head up either staircase and select a table, preferably one near one of the many windows that look over Liberty Square or the it’s a small world area of Fantasyland. You’ll find this upstairs section will nearly always be quieter and less crowded than the downstairs area. You’ll have a great view if you can score one of the window tables and you can enjoy some food and a drink while you’re at it. Regroup, make your plans for the rest of your day, and head back out into the park refreshed and with a full stomach.
