Budget: Chocolate Character Coins, a Super Cheap Treat

We first encountered these treats at Disneyland Resort, where we received one chocolate coin on each of our pillows at Paradise Pier Hotel when we returned to our room at the end of the day. I then noticed the coins are sold in many of the stores within the parks and resorts (both WDW and Disneyland) and on top of that, you get a pouch of around ten of them for the low, low (theme park) price of only $2.95.

The coins come in princess and classic character sets, and they can usually be found near the Chip ‘n’ Dale treat section of Disney gift shops. I’ve also seen the coins presented inside a plastic treasure box, but are more expensive than the ones that come in the mesh bag. Classic characters include a few characters outside of the Fab Five, like Dumbo and Jiminy Cricket. The princess selection includes the usual suspects, though I haven’t seen any of the newer princesses, like Rapunzel or Tiana. (Maybe someday?)

The chocolate itself is milk chocolate, nice, smooth, and sweet without being too sweet. It’s very similar (probably exactly the same as) the chocolate in the new-ish chocolate candy bars you can buy in gift shops around WDW and DLR, so if you like those, you’ll like these coins.

These are a great treat to grab as you’re leaving the park and you want just one more little something, especially if you have a larger group. (Lots of coins in the bag to pass out!) I think it would also make a nice thing to get to take back to friends or teachers at home, and at a nice, affordable price.

About Kathy

I'm a lifetime Disney Parks fan who recently (and coincidentally) found herself relocated to Central Florida. These are our adventures visiting the many attractions and exhibits that are all too easy to overlook in favor of the headliner and super-headliner attractions.
