We spent some time at Animal Kingdom this past Saturday, and on our way out, I noticed a Cast Member manning a bean bag toss game. This isn’t anything super-new, as I’ve seen similar bean bag toss/hula hoop/ring toss game areas set up around the parks before, though not at the turnstiles at Animal Kingdom before. There were two new aspects of this setup though. (At least, they were new to me.)
First, this CM had kid-sized shirts for the kids to wear, little replicas of the one she was wearing. The shirt even includes an oversized “Honorary Cast Member” name badge on it. This is what the shirts at this AK station look like:
The bean bag toss “goal” had several targets on it, one for each area of the park. You can see them a little in this picture, though I didn’t get an angle on the sign to make it readable:
The other new wrinkle to this game is my favorite part, the button that the Cast Member was giving out after each child had a turn at the bean bag toss:
We were headed to Downtown Disney after we left Animal Kingdom and a couple of people at DtD asked about her button after they saw her proudly wearing it. I have no idea if this is a new thing we’ll see in the parks from time to time here in 2012, but I’d guess it will be. It seems like a lot of trouble to make kid-sized CM shirts and design this new button if this little mini-activity isn’t around to stay, at least for awhile.
So if you or your kiddos like to collect buttons like these (hey, free souvenir! can’t beat that!) keep your eyes open for one of these mini-game stations and maybe they’ll have buttons to hand out.
